Kittyhawk Chapter News - October 2009
This year is shaping up to be rewarding and fun for the chapter. To start with, it’s that time of year, again. In just about one month we’ll have our annual Christmas Party. This year’s party is shaping up to be better than ever and we are back at the Presidential Banquet Center. You won’t want to miss it.
It is also the time to consider a donation to the Chapter’s Scholarship Fund. Please take a look at the enclosed letter from our scholarship chairman, Gary Whitted.
New, this year is our monthly luncheon venue. We’re now at a great new facility, the “Tower Club,” near the Fairfield Mall. We’ve also lowered the cost to just $10 per person thanks to generous sponsors. If you know someone who might be interested in joining, be sure to offer an invitation. As always, we’re lining up top-notch speakers, but we want your interests and suggestions. Just contact any board member or me. If you haven’t been in a while, check it out. You can sign up and pay by credit card, online. If we have your email address, you’ll get announcements in advance.
Be on the lookout for an announcement for our Spring Fling. If things go as planned, we’ll be at the Country Club of the North for an evening of food, fun, and suspense.
On June 7-10, 2010, we’ll again be supporting the Sensors Directorate with the bi-annual Briefing to Industry/Kittyhawk Week. Details for Scholarship Golf will be coming soon!
I would be remiss by failing to mention the National recognition members of our Kittyhawk Chapter received. We nominated thirteen local award winners to National and five received National Awards. National also included four of our submissions on the Technology Hall of Fame list. In addition, our own Judy Westerheide received the Life Achievement Award!! That’s not all, Steve Umbaugh, Paul Westcott, Dave Hime, and Judy Westerheide now serve on the National Board of directors.
Finally, thanks to former board member, Sharon Williamson and past president, Joe Koesters for their service to the chapter, and welcome new board members Kent Shin and Fred Kuhn.
Best regards,
Dave
